God is Triune Lordship of Jesus Christ Authority of the Bible Church as the Body of Christ Worship Soul Freedom Priesthood of All Believers Religious Freedom Autonomy of the Local Church
We affirm the oneness of God manifest in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is the Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer of creation. God the Father is revealed in the Son, Jesus Christ; and God the Holy Spirit makes the revelation complete and effective.
We profess, “Jesus is Lord,” and we make a commitment to Christ’s Church. Salvation is by grace through faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, and the life of Jesus is the model for our faith and practice.
We affirm the Bible as the inspired Word of God, and as our guide in matters of faith and practice. God is revealed through the reading of scripture, revealing the hope of the kingdom of God. We, led by the Spirit, respond to its teachings, reading them in the light of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
We are called as disciples of Jesus Christ to embody the love of God, as the people are the church. We are called to the mission of God, extending the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. We affirm a spirit of cooperation among Baptist churches as well as other denominations, embracing the diversity of the Church.
We gather for worship on the Lord’s Day, celebrating the gift of grace, building community within the church, and renewing our commitment to the ministry of the church. We affirm the two ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism symbolizes the confession of believers in Christ as Lord and Savior. The Lord’s Supper symbolizes the death of Christ as forgiveness for our sins.
We affirm the competency of each believer to approach God for himself or herself, honoring people’s access to God through Christ. We hold that all believers, led by God’s Spirit, have the duty and responsibility to study, to interpret, and to respond to the teachings of scripture.
We affirm that through the redemption of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, each believer is called to engage in ministry. Each believer comes before God through Christ, so the clergy and the laity of the church minister together as the body of Christ.
The history of the Baptist tradition affirms the separation of church and state, upholding the freedom of believers to worship and practice their faith based solely on the dictates of conscience.
We affirm the responsibility of each local congregation to govern its own affairs, shaping its mission, policy, and actions.

Sunday School classes include all ages and have various curriculums. Our emphasis is on building up and encouraging each believer, building community, and advancing the mission that Jesus gave to his followers to go into the world and make disciples. Please call the church office for information on specific classes.
The children of the church are cherished for their exuberance and embraced as a gift. They are involved in worship as well as all aspects of the church. In Sunday School, they learn about scripture through lessons, music, drama, computers, and art. The choir and missions programs are enriching and fun. Annual retreats and events, such as summer camp and Vacation Bible School, are planned for the children and are a focus of the entire church.
The following information describes our Wednesday night programs for children:
MISSION FRIENDS (Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.):
Mission Friends is for children ages 3-5 and the child must be 3 years old by September 1. In Mission Friends, we strive to plant seeds of God's love for each child and for others. Preschoolers through Kindergarten students will learn about missions through various cultural activities designed specifically for their age level. Mission Friends uses creative hands-on activities to teach the children about missions throughout the world. We also assist with various local mission projects to help those in need, teaching and embodying the truth that it is more meaningful to give than to receive. We support ministries who serve those in our community, and other parts of the world, who are less fortunate. Our major mission project is "Breakfast With Mary and Joseph." Our activities encourage a life-long commitment to learning scripture, praying, giving, and serving others. .
KINGDOM KIDS (Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.):
Kingdom Kids is for children in grades 1-6. The curriculum, 252 Basics, centers around 3 basic truths: (1) I can trust God no matter what, (2) I need to make the wise choice, and (3)Treat others the way you want to be treated. Each month, we study a different virtue, such as peace, determination or respect. Each week, a new Bible passage illustrates an aspect of the month's virtue. We begin as a large group where the bible story is presented through an engaging drama involving audience participation. Students then join a small group to engage in games, crafts and memory verse activities. Throughout the year, we participate in a variety of mission projects, supporting both local and international missions.
CHILDREN'S CHOIRS (Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.)
Children's Choirs at VBC include children ages 3-5 and grades 4-6. All choirs sing during a Christmas program in December and during an end-of-year program in May; these programs are on Wednesday nights at 7:00. Our schedule follows closely that of the Bibb County Schools, with choirs not meeting the week of Thanksgiving, a couple of weeks after the Christmas program, and during the week of Spring Holidays. Grades 1-6 occasionally sing in the Activities Building following Wednesday night supper or during a Sunday worship service. Every other year or so we present a musical in December or May. The music for our other programs is drawn from our Growing in Grace Children's Music Curriculum or other resources in our music library.
All of our choirs have access to a wide variety of rhythm instruments, resonator bells, Boomwhackers, and Orff instruments. Grades 1-6 also use choir chimes and handbells. We sing with recordings and with piano accompaniment. Musical concepts and singing skills are taught in both small group and large group settings. Preschool choir emphasizes steady beat, simple rhythm patterns, matching pitch, and basic concepts such as high and low, loud and soft, fast and slow. Music Makers and Young Musicians build on these skills in grades 1-6, adding more difficult rhythms, singing in parts, music reading, and performance skills. Grades 1-6 also have access to Maestro, a computer-based music education program. Age-appropriate spiritual concepts are woven into our teaching as we discuss the words we are singing.
Our choirs include not only the children of our Vineville Baptist families, but also children whose families do not have a church home or whose church is not able to provide a graded choir program. Visitors are always welcome!

Worship is the primary goal of the music ministry of Vineville Baptist Church. The music ministry offers opportunities for all ages to use their gifts in worship. Our worship is traditional, and incorporates a variety of choral, instrumental and congregational song.
The primary worship leadership groups are the 50 voice Sanctuary Choir and the Vineville Instrumental Ensemble. Accompanying them are two excellent accompanists at the piano and organ.
The Sanctuary Choir consists of volunteers who offer their voices in praise. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm and welcome any who would choose to join their voices in song. The choir sings a broad variety of music including classics, contemporary anthems, hymn arrangements, spirituals and seasonal music.
Vineville is excited to offer a fully graded program of choirs.
Activities in our children’s choirs include singing, playing instruments, developing listening skill and moving to music. Technology is also a part of our children’s choirs curriculum as it is used to reinforce learning that takes place in small group settings. Our children’s choirs meet on Wednesday afternoons during the school year.
Additional ensembles and small groups form from time to time, as needed.

Though the themes will vary from year to year, our goal is always to share God's love through Jesus Christ and to leave each child with enduring experiences.
The Higher Life Center
The Higher Life Center is an enrichment Center for mentally challenged adults who have aged out of public schools. Clients experience a higher life when stimulated physically, mentally and socially. Since September 1990, the Center has ministered to clients not served by other agencies. The non-profit center is a ministry of Vineville Baptist Church. The Center is funded by tuition and donations. The Mid- State Baptist Association has donated some funding for several years, but this is not a guaranteed contribution for the future. The Higher Life Center offers a place for clients to feel good about themselves and to make friends with others of similarabilities and interests. When clients attend Higher Life, the caregivers have time to do other things, including resting from the demands of caring for special needs family members. Friendship and respite for families are tremendously important benefits!
The Physical Facility
The Higher Life Center is located at 124 Hines Terrace. The facility is handicap-accessible, but we do not currently provide services for wheelchair-bound clients due to staffing and transportation issues.
Fill out the application form available from the Higher Life Director or Vineville Baptist Church office. A copy is also included in the Parent/Guardian's Handbook. Make an appointment with the Director to bring the prospective client to the Center to see the facility and meet the other clients. When there is an opening, the Chairman of the Higher Life Ministry Team will schedule an interview with the applicant. The interview will include the Director and two Ministry Team members, the applicant and the applicant's parents or guardians. The purpose of the interview is to determine the compatibility of the applicant with the current clients, and whether the program will be appropriate for the applicant.
The Higher Life Ministry Team and Director will accept or reject applicants based on the following guidelines, the application, the interview, and compatibility of the applicant with the current clients:
Tuition and Schedule
The Higher Life Center is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., year around. The Center is usually open when the church offices are open, but in case of weather emergencies the Director and church pastoral staff may deem it wise to close.
The ten church holidays are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Monday after Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Current tuition is $295 per month. For a 31 day month, this is 138 hours of care, or $2.18 per hour. The Center offers a lot for such a small cost! Please note that tuition does not pay all the costs of operation.
Tuition is due on the first day of each month, with checks payable to Vineville Baptist Church. Tuition may be given to the Director of Higher Life or to the Church Financial Secretary. Either person will write a receipt. The church does not bill for services.
Higher Life programs are planned to keep clients active physically and mentally. The Director focuses on daily living skills: showing good manners in all situations, following directions, using the microwave, cooking simple meals & desserts, sharing, caring for plants, eating with proper behavior, learning the best foods for good health, following good grooming rules, reading a calendar, developing spirituality, and growing in awareness of the world around them.
Students also learn to use other time effectively by participating in games, puzzles, crafts, coloring, reading and writing. Each client has access to a PC in a well-equipped computer room. Each week, the clients visit the church library where, with help, they select books on their intellectual levels. A story teller comes weekly. To keep their bodies healthy, clients participate in aerobics, ride a stationary bike, play basketball in the church gym, walk around the neighborhood, and use the church playground. The clients and the Director eat lunch together every day where they practice social skills.
The Macon Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) awarded the Religious Service Award to our Higher Life Center in 1994, 2000, and 2009. In 2006 a former Director won the "My Teacher is Tops" award, based on a client nomination. In 2005, the current director received the "Teacher of the Year" award from the Macon ARC.

Good Morning Everyone! We are excited to announce that registration is finally underway for the 2015 Men's Church Basketball League hosted by Vineville Baptist Church. We had another great season in 2014 and are looking forward to an exciting year of competition and fellowship in 2015. I apologize for the lateness of this email being sent. I have heard from several of you but please respond to me ASAP if you intend to once again field a team.
Thanks for all you do as coaches to make this league a success.
The following is a breakdown of league information:
Location & Schedule: All league games will be played at Vineville Baptist Church. We anticipate the league will consist of either eight or nine teams, playing a round-robin schedule (with each team receiving a bye week if we have 9 teams), followed by a post-season tournament. Games are scheduled to be played at 6:00PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, and 9:00PM. Tentatively, the regular season is set to begin on January 6th, and most regular-season league games will be played on Monday nights.
League Fees: Entry fees for the participating teams are $450.00/team.
Registration: Early registration for last season's participating churches will run through Friday, December 19th. Since we are limited to a maximum of nine league teams, we have decided that the most equitable way to determine the league teams will be based on when the league fees are paid in full. If there are still openings after the early registration period, the first nine paid teams will make up the league participants. Checks should be made payable to Vineville Baptist Church. Please either mail or bring payment by church office. For church address, please visit our church website at www.vbcmacon.org. Please be aware that we have three interested churches on a waitlist at this point.
League Rules: A copy of the league rules will be sent via email as the season approaches. It is important for the coach to be aware of the rules and relay them to all players. The referees will discuss any new rules prior to each game during Week 1.
Eligibility: All league participants must be at least 18 years of age and cannot be currently playing on a high school or college basketball team.
Liability Waiver: All league participants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to playing in their first game. Waiver forms will be included with league rules. Rosters will be locked for the season after the second game to ensure people are not playing without signing the waiver.
Scheduling Requests: Please let us know if there are any special scheduling requests when you submit your league fees. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but there is no guarantee. Since all the teams tend to struggle with the 6:00PM games, we try our best to be equitable and only schedule each team with two during the regular season.
We are excited about the continuation of this successful Men's Church Basketball League, and we look forward to your participation. Any questions should be directed to me at 478.550.7953.
