Youth Group
The Youth Ministry at VBC is centered on helping 6th-12th graders grow in their relationship with Christ through missions, involvement in the community, and helping our young people grow into the larger life of the church. They meet regularly each week for Bible study, missions, fun, and they enjoy annual retreats.
Annual Youth Permission Slips
Each year we ask the parent(s)/guardian(s) of all minors to complete a permission slip. This slip covers the general liability waiver information but also gives us insight into how to provide the best possible care and experience for our youth while they are in our care. These forms must be on file in our Church Office prior to preschool and children’s participation in off campus events or events wherein parents are not on campus. There are two pages that need to be completed. The first is a Family Page, please complete one per family. The second is the Minor’s Information Page, please complete one per minor.
Sunday Morning Bible Study
Youth, grades 6-12, gather in the Guest Reception room (2nd floor Landrum) on Sunday mornings at 9:35am to take a deep dive into scripture.
Sunday Afternoon Send Off
On Sunday afternoons, youth enjoy a mix of Bible study, games, and missions. Their time during this gathering is intended to strengthen their connections with one another as they encourage each other to carry their faith with them as salt and light into their schools. We also strive to broaden their understanding of the blessings they have, the talents they’ve been equipped with, and the opportunities they have to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus right here in Macon.
Occassionally our gathering time changes but is most consistently 4:00pm-6:00pm.
Youth Choir
On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month the youth participate in youth choir. During this time they use their learn more about how to use their voices to sing praises to God. This is one more way to plant scripture into the hearts of young people. And it’s fun to hear them singing the songs, unprompted, during other activities. This group leads in worship and special musical programs throughout the year.
Wednesday Evening Huddle
On Wednesday evenings, from 6:00pm-7:00pm our youth gather in the youth room to grow in relationship with God and one another. This time together serves as a huddle of sorts, empowering our youth to finish their week strong in the Lord.
Background Checks
All staff and volunteers ages 18+ undergo background checks prior to serving with children or youth. These background checks are repeated, at minimum, every two years.
